Students from the Pedagogy Institute on practical work
25 April 2016

Skopje, 19. – 22.04.2016; In the frame of the cooperation between Lifelong Learning Center and the Pedagogy Institute by the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje, supported by DVV International form Bonn, in the period from 19th to 22th April 2016, Lifelong Learning Center for the third time hosted 30 students form the Pedagogy Institute, future pedagogues and andragogues. The idea of this visit was, through information and presentation to get know about the work and activities of the Lifelong Learning Center in Macedonia and South East Europe, as for its contribution for the development of adult education through implemented projects. Besides, students could get more information on actual situation and development of the adult education system in R. Macedonia. Information that these young students got, will contribute to their further study and their professional orientation, and our organization will continue support them in the future.  

 
Final workshop from the piloting of the Curriculum globALE
04 April 2016

Skopje, 18. - 19.03.2016; Within the piloting of the Curriculm globALE training curricula which is supported by DVV International from Bonn, Lifelong Learning Center Skopje organised the final workshop on 18th and 19th of March in Skopje. The workshop was result of previous agreement by the participants to have final workshop where the participants presented their results and the certificates were delivered. The workshop was a good occasion participants to present their work efficiency and progress in the achievements of final competences through preparation of training session and its’ delivery.

At the end of the pilot project all 17 participants received Certificates for completed andragogical preparation - Trainer and teacher of Adult Education, according the European training programme for global education and adult learning, Curriculum globALE.

The experiences will be implemented and utilised as directions for introduction of the curricula in Macedonia. 

 
Enhancing Lifelong Learning through modernising the vocational education and training in adult education systems in Macedonia
22 March 2016

Lifelong Learning Center together with DVV International in the consortium led by British Council, started with implementation of the project Enhancing Lifelong Learning through modernising the vocational education and training in adult education systems. The project is funded under IPA Operational Programme “Human Resource Development” EuropeAid/135834/IH/SER/MK.

Beneficiary of the project is Ministry of Education and Science.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the strengthening of a comprehensive and integrated Lifelong Learning system, with focus on Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education, by establishing a dynamic correlation between education and the changes of both the social sphere and the labour market.

The components of the project include:

Component 1: Strengthening of the Vocational Education and Training system in close cooperation with the private sector and social partners. The process will entail relevant strategies, by reforming the curricula for the vocational education. Reforms will be based on assessments of the labour market needs and by strengthening/establishment of capacities of career centres in VET schools and the process of career counselling.

Component 2: Strengthening of the Adult Education system on local level country wide. The process will be done through close cooperation with local actors through assessments, programme designs, building up capacities for the trainers and provision of relevant training materials, development of models/concepts for establishment and functioning of public adult education institutions on local level, and preparation of new strategic document in the area of Adult Education.

Component 3: Development of a National Strategy for Lifelong Learning by strengthening of the overall capacity of national system for lifelong learning with specific attention to Vocational Education and training and Adult Education. The process will include assessments of the current situation, which will provide inputs for building and strengthening the capacity of the national institutions and other relevant stakeholders in developing and managing a national system for Lifelong Learning with particular attention to VET and Adult Education.

Component 4: In addition the project will provide Monitoring and Evaluation Database and Information Management System for VET and AE, and teaching material and teaching equipment for VET schools, as well as equipment for career centres.

Component 5: Public awareness activities will be undertaken by the project to raise the general understanding about the attractiveness and the opportunities offered by the programmes for Vocational Education and Training and for Adult Education (and Adult Education providers).

Target groups of the project are: Ministry of Education and Science; Ministry of Labour and Social Policy; Centre for Vocational Education and Training; Vocational Education and Training schools; Adult Education Centre; Adult Education providers; Bureau for Development of Education; National Examination Centre; State Educational Inspectorate; State Statistical Office; Universities and Higher Educational Institutions; Local self-government units; Employers’ associations; Chambers;  Parents and students; Civil society organisations.  

The project budget is EUR 1,972.500,00

The project started on 20 January 2016 and will be implemented within 22 months, until 20 November 2017.

 
Lifelong Learning Center Skopje held workshop for organisational strengthening and strategic planning
14 March 2016

Skopje, 08. – 10.03.2016; Within the support provided by DVV International aimed to strengthen Lifelong Learning Center – Skopje, workshop for organisational strengthening and strategic planning for the following four years was held on 8th – 10th March 2016 in City Park Hotel Skopje.

With aim to have a clear goals and to position Lifelong Learning Center’s role in 2020, analyses of Adult education developments in Republic of Macedonia were done, with specific focus on the contributions and support that DVV International and Lifelong Learning Center provided through the years. In addition, present trends and future plans on policy level related to Adult education in Republic of Macedonia were also analysed, so the future targets and goals were set accordingly.

In order to position Lifelong Learning Center as one of the key partners in the overall system of Adult education in Republic of Macedonia, the workshop involved representatives of institutions and organisations that Lifelong Learning Center cooperates with. The representatives from Centre for Adult Education and Open Civic University “Joska Svestarot” Strumica, were active and contributed to the planning process. They have placed the focus on national planning and future policies in Adult education in Macedonia, in order to provide support and position the role of the Lifelong Learning Center in their future development and implementation.

The workshop was facilitated and guided by the German expert Johan Töpfer and was supported by DVV International. 

 

 

 
Training for the sixth module from Curriculum globALE
12 January 2016

Ohrid, 26.-29.11.2015; From the 26th until the 29th November, the Center for Lifelong Learning  supported by  DVV International from Bonn, organized the sixth and final cycle from the series of trainings, which covered five elective topics from the global curriculum for educational work with adults, Curriculum globALE.

The realization of the sixth module was a summary of current competencies acquired in the education and training of adults which gave the users an opportunity to apply their previous experience in the realization of topics. It was a good opportunity to review the efficiency of their work so far in the context of the acquisition of the final competencies.

During the training, five elective subjects were conducted, which had the highest frequency among all options in the implementation of the electoral lists: Vocational Education and Training Professional didactics, Literacy and basic adult education, Needs analysis and Quality assurance in adult education.

Apart from the presentations used by the coaches, the users were also referred to literature to expand their knowledge of the topics that were realized during the training.

The final session was used to summarize the impressions of the realization of the overall curriculum. Participants expressed their satisfaction with the work and organization of this pilot project and encouraged the initiative to develop a new, advanced training module.

 
Bilateral exchange of experts between Kosovo and Macedonia

Examples of good practice and opportunities for cooperation in the field of adult education between Macedonia and Kosovo

Skopje, 26.-27.11.2015; Within the regional project cooperation of DVV International  south-eastern Europe, a bilateral exchange of experts between the Republic of Kosovo and Macedonia was held in Skopje on the 26th and the 27th November 2015, organized by the Center for Lifelong Learning - Skopje. This exchange was organized for the second time. Last year, the exchange had focused on non-formal vocational adult education. This year the emphasis was on examples of good practice in the field of adult education.

During the two meetings, 9 participants attended - representatives of various governmental and non-governmental organizations.

In the first meeting in Skopje, the participants had the opportunity to learn a few different examples and activities implemented in the country and to discuss about them. Within this presentation, the Center for Lifelong Learning presented their work to colleagues from Kosovo. The introduction of a global curriculum for educational work with adults - Curriculum globALE ​​aroused great interest among the participants, since in Kosovo, the pilot phase of the introduction of the teaching curriculum is also being implemented at the moment. Therefore, this meeting was a good opportunity to exchange opinions.

The representatives of the Centre for adult education presented the current project for recognition of programs for educational work with adults, which are demanded on the labour market. In the framework of the bilateral expert exchange, participants from Kosovo visited the Traffic School Centre "Boro Petruševski" from Skopje and the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce, where they receives detailed information on their work, priorities and challenges. In this context, colleagues from both countries identified further points for cooperation on common projects.

The visit was rated as very successful with great potential for future cooperation between the two countries and an agreement for a return visit in Kosovo, which will be held on the 02nd and 3rd of December this year.

This bilateral exchange between experts in the field of adult education in Macedonia and Kosovo is a form of activity that has benefits on multiple levels. On a professional level, it aims towards intensification of exchange of knowledge, opinions and good practices between experts in adult education, increasing their individual capacities and the capacities of their institutions. Also, it contributes to closer cooperation between Macedonia and Kosovo as neighbouring countries. The bilateral exchange also gives a good chance for intercultural learning and an introduction of the culture and tradition of the neighbours.

 
Days of lifelong learning in Macedonia, November 2015
12 January 2016

This year, the Centre for Lifelong Learning organized the manifestation Days of lifelong learning in Macedonia for the 12th time in a row within the national project for promotion of adult education structures, funded by DVV International from Bon.

Main partner of the Center for Lifelong Learning is the public Institution Centre for adult education, which in 2013 joined in this campaign. This cooperation is part of the memorandum concluded between the two partners, in which all activities and common projects were established at the beginning of 2015.

The Center for Lifelong Learning, as every year, informed its network partners and offered them to also join in the campaign. Hence, the following organizations have applied: The Open Civic University for lifelong learning "Joska Svestarot" - Strumica, the Open Civic University for Lifelong Learning "Krste Misirkov" - Bitola, the non-governmental organization "Vepro" from Struga, the Alliance for the Development of Adult  Education and Lifelong Learning - Tetovo and the People's University - Kumanovo. Because all these providers operate in different regions across the country, the events encompassed the entire country.

Traditionally, the campaign began with the opening ceremony at the Congress Centre of the Skopje Fair. The purpose of the opening is to mobilize the widest possible audience from the educational sector and to attract the attention of the decision makers and the public about the significance and importance of lifelong learning. Significant was the presence of the Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Abdilaqim Ademi, as the patron of the campaign. In his address, he stressed that the government seeks to strengthen the system of adult education and develop a national strategy for lifelong learning.

As part of the central event on the 05th November 2015, the competent state institutions for Adult Education, the Ministry of Education, the Centre for Vocational Education and Training and the Centre for Adult Education presented the priorities and challenges in the implementation of their policies. Through detailed presentations, the three institutions gave the audience a clear picture of the current state of education policy with an emphasis on lifelong learning.

During the month of November, the partners have joined the campaign to implement their activities. With these different themes, they have enriched the calendar of events.

The opening of the Days of lifelong learning was attended by 120 participants - representatives of various governmental and non-governmental organizations. These events have caused great interest among the general public and the media.

After 12 years of organizing the campaign for lifelong learning, the Center for Lifelong Learning plans to modify the concept in a way that will implement various measures during the year. This idea will be discussed in the coming year.

 
Official start of the Erasmus + project “Addressing the regional labor market needs through development and certification of new adult education programmes”
30 December 2015

04.12.2015, Skopje; The Lifelong Learning Center – Skopje, was host of the kick-off meeting for the Erasmus + project “Addressing the regional labor market needs through development and certification of new adult education programs”, approved by the National Agency for European education programs and mobility, within key action 2 – Strategic partnerships. This project, with duration of 24 months will be coordinated by the Lifelong Learning Center and will be implemented in partnership with following 6 organizations from Macedonia, Germany and Romania: DVV International, EuroEd, Community Development Institute – Tetovo, Open Civic University for lifelong learning Joska Svestarot – Strumica, County Library Gheorghe Sincai – Oradea, Public School of Arts and Crafts – Ramniku Valcea. With its project activities, the project aims at setting of a good practice example of responding to the labor market needs regionally and locally, by development of adult education programmes. The budget of the project is EUR 205.400,00 and is the second largest project approved by the Macedonian National Agency so far.

 
Upcoming event: Days of Lifelong Learning 2015
28 October 2015

Skopje, 05.11.2015; On the 05th November, the Centre for Lifelong Learning, with the financial support of DVV International from Bonn and in cooperation with the public organization Center for Adult Education, will organize the event Days of Lifelong Learning for the twelfth time in a row. The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia is, as every year, the patron of the event.

The Lifelong Learning Days are an important and comprehensive project and an effective measure to increase the awareness of people about the importance and the significance of lifelong learning. Each year the concept of the project is complex and has a rich history in terms of program content.

Like last year, this year, 5 partner institutions of the Centre for Lifelong Learning showed interest and initiative to enrich the program of the Days of Lifelong Learning with additional events throughout the country. The Open Civil University for Lifelong Learning "Joska Svestarot" - Strumica, The Open Civil University "Krste Misirkov" from Bitola, the Association for Development of Adult Education - Tetovo, the NGO "Boars" from Struga and the National University of Kumanovo will be part of the organization of the festival.

 
Open Day of the multiculturalism of the municipality of Kicevo
28 October 2015

Kicevo, 17.10.2015; Within the partnership project for active citizenship and education of community mediators in the municipality of Kicevo, the Center for Lifelong Learning - Skopje, with the support of DVV International – Bonn and in cooperation with partner organizations, the Center for Community Development - Kicevo, Forum Civil Peace Service - Skopje and the group Vredit to be from Kicevo (It’s worth to be from Kicevo), organized an Open Multicultural Day in the municipality of Kicevo on the 17.10.2015 for the second time in a row.

Together in one place, the citizens of six ethnic communities, Macedonians, Albanians, Serbs, Roma, Vlachs and Turks presented themselves in folk costumes, prepared traditional culinary specialties and children from the primary schools performed folk dances specific to each ethnic group. The program was enriched with a theatrical performance, i.e. a simulation of mediation, a presentation of local NGOs, an exhibition of publications, photo exhibition and traditional musical instruments. The event was attended by the media.

This event aims to support ethnic communities in the municipality and be a good example of coexistence in a multicultural environment.

 
Training for the fifth module of Curriculum globALE
28 October 2015

Ohrid, 02. - 04.10.2015; The Lifelong Learning Center with the support of DVV International from Bonn, organized the fifth cycle of the series trainings from the 2nd to the 4th October, where the fifth module of the global curriculum for educational work with adults, Curriculum globALE was covered. In this module, the participants had the opportunity to practically apply the forms and techniques of learning in adult education, which were learned in the previous module, and as a new theme dealt with the planning, programming and organization of learning. Finally, the participants were familiarized with the occupational standards and standards of professional qualifications and educational programs. This was the penultimate module of the andragogy qualification within the piloting of the Curriculum globALE ​​project in Macedonia.

 
Training for Project Management 2
28 October 2015

Ohrid, 16. - 18.9.2015; Within the project cooperation between the Centre for Lifelong Learning and the Center for Adult Education, from the 16th – 18th September 2015 the second of two planned trainings for the staff of the CAE took place in Ohrid. The training consisted of deepening and expanding previous knowledge and strengthening skills in the area of ​​project management.

Through proper methodology which included theoretical introduction to topics, discussion and exercises in small groups, the participants received a complete insight into the planning process of a social development project, varying from analysis of needs to draft project plans and were familiarized with the tools for managing time, managing teams and solving problems. The participants showed great interest in the exercises and their results and presentations are of good quality.

Through these two trainings, the team in the Centre for Adult Education gained core competencies in the field of project management.

 
Donations of technical equipment to Open Civil Universities / Adult Education Centers
28 October 2015

Skopje, 15.09.2015; The Center for Lifelong Learning - Skopje, with the financial support of DVV International, and as part of this year's project activities, donated technical equipment to 12 partner institutions of the network of Open Civil universities for Lifelong learning / Adult Education Centres  in Macedonia, as one of the main partners - providers of non-formal adult education in the country. The donated equipment consists of a laptop and a projector in order to raise the quality of their educational work with adults. The ceremony for the donation of the technical equipment to partner organizations was held on 15.09.2015 in Skopje.

 
Planning Workshop - Multicultural Day in Kicevo
28 October 2015

Kicevo, 12.09.2015; On September 12, 2015, a workshop for planning of the Open Multicultural Day of the municipality of Kicevo was held, which this year will take place for the second time and is scheduled for the 17. October 2015. The meeting was attended by members of the group Vredit to be from Kicevo (It is worth to be from Kicevo) as well as organizations and supporters of this event – the Center for Community Development from Kicevo, Forum Civil Peace Service and the Centre for Lifelong Learning within the partnership project for active citizenship and education of mediators of the community in the municipality of Kicevo. This event aims to encourage and improve inter-ethnic coexistence in the municipality consisting of 6 communities and is an example of the diversity of the Macedonian multicultural society.

 
Preparation of the event Days of Lifelong Learning 2015
28 October 2015

Skopje, 09.09.2015; This year, the manifestation “Days of Lifelong Learning 2015" will be organized for the 12th year in a row.  The opening ceremony of the event will be held on 11.05.2015 and then a series of events in 5 different cities across the country will follow. Therefore, the Centre for Lifelong Learning organized a workshop on the 09.09, where the topics, activities and objectives set for this year were discussed and agreed upon. The main partner of the Centre for Lifelong Learning is the Public Institution Center for Adult Education. Like last year, many partners of the Centre for Lifelong Learning showed interest and an initiative to enrich the program of the Days of Lifelong Learning, with additional events throughout the country. The Open Civil University "Joska Svestarot" - Strumica, the Open Civil University in Bitola, the Association for Development of Adult Education - Tetovo, the NGO "Boars" from Struga and the Kumanovo National University will be part of the organization of the festival.

 
Planning workshop, Kicevo 10.06.2015
15 June 2015

Kicevo 10.06.2015; in cooperation between Lifelong Learning Center, Forum ZFD from Germany and Center for Community Development from Kicevo, with a support of DVV International form Bonn, a planning workshop was organized in order to define specific activities of the informal group called "it’s worth to be from Kicevo".

The work was divided between two groups and the following topics were covered: greater visibility of multiculturalism in Kicevo and increasing the quality of life in Kicevo.

As a result of the first group were defined two activities that will be implemented by the end of 2015.

Days of multiculturalism is an event that started last year and will continue this year too as expanded and enriched version in order to become a tradition.

The second activity is the preparation and publication of a brochure of Kicevo in which will be highlighted the rich history, culture and tradition of Kicevo as multicultural community.

The second group identified activity that relates to better information of the citizens about the opportunities for citizen participation in the municipality work, their rights and ways to realize them through the municipality according its jurisdiction.

After this workshop follows a detailed elaboration of ideas and their implementation.

 
Andragogic School: Curriculum globALE, Module 4
08 June 2015

Ohrid, 28 - 31.05.2015; Lifelong Learning Center with the support of DVV International from Bonn, from 28 to 31 May, organized the fourth cycle of the training series, covering the fourth module of the global curriculum for educational work with adults, Curriculum globALE. In this module, participants had the opportunity to learn about the principles of learning in adult education, the role of educator, forms of learning in adult education, processing forms of vertical and horizontal learning, group form of teaching, teaching in pairs or tandem and individual form of teaching. In the second part of the training types of learning techniques were presented, including: lecture, demonstration, lecture unit, discussion, tutoring, workshops, project, case study and finally were elaborated methods and techniques for successful self-learning. Once again, the participants were highly motivated and actively participated in practical exercises. The participants remaining two more training modules, 5th and one electoral module to complete the andragogical qualification of this pilot project.

 
Training in Community Mediation based on the technique of nonviolent communication for representatives of Kichevo municipality

Berovo, 08. - 10.05.2015; In the period from 08. - 10.05.2015 year in Berovo, training was held on "Mediation in the local community."

 The main objective of this seminar was to process multiple themes for mediation, including:

- Improving the development competencies, improving the quality of implementation of mediation and conflict management;

- Strengthening the capacity of local community through the establishment of quality communication and cooperation, tolerance, activism, conflict management and their transformation;

- Building partnerships for development and application of mediation in the local community through horizontal learning and exchange of examples of good practice;

- Networking and spreading the idea of ​​mediation as a model for non-violent conflict resolution in everyday life situations.

This training was led and conducted by veteran coach from Belgrade, Marina Ostojic, and participants had the opportunity to improve and enhance their skills for mediation at the local community through access to non-violent communication. The training was organized by the Lifelong Learning Center, with partner organizations: the Forum Civil Peace Service (Forum ZFD) and the Center for Community Development Kicevo, with the financial support of DVV International, ie the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany.

The training aroused great interest among the participants, all the participants were extremely motivated and actively contributed to the practical part of the training.

 
Training on project planning
14 May 2015

Berovo, 23-25.04.2015; 

According to the cooperation agreement between the Lifelong Learning Centre and the Center for Adult Education, from 23 - 25 April 2015 was organized the first of the two planned trainings for the CAE staff members.

Theme of this training was "Introduction to Project Management" and was led by the experienced coaches Risto Karajkov and Mila Stankovic.

Through a suitable methodology that was designed with theoretical introduction to topics, discussions and exercises in small groups, the participants get a complete insight into the planning process of a social development projects.

Given the great interest of the participants on this issue, the next training will deal thoroughly the project planning with topics and tools that were not covered in the first training.

Skopje, 28-30.04.2015; in the frame of the cooperation between Lifelong Learning Centar and the Pedagogy Institute by the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje, supported by DVV International form Bonn, in the period from 28th to 30th April 2015, Lifelong Learning Center for the second time hosted 27 students form the Pedagogy Institute, future pedagogues and andragogues. The idea of this visit was, through information and presentation to get know about the work and activities of the Lifelong Learning Center in Macedonia and South East Europe, as for its contribution for the development of adult education through implemented projects. Besides, students could get more information on actual situation and development of the adult education system in R. Macedonia. After numerous questions and interesting discussions during the three days of their visit can be concluded that the students are really keen to learn more. Information that these young enthusiasts got, will contribute to their further study and their professional orientation, and our organization will continue support them in the future.

 
Andragogical School 2015, Curriculum globALE, Module 3
17 April 2015

Strumica, 02. - 04.04.2015;

Last year, the Lifelong Learning Centre supported by DVV International from Bonn, started a project for piloting a global curriculum for adult education, so called Curriculum globALE, which is the basic andragogical qualification for trainers of adults. In October and December 2014 were conducted two trainings intended for staff from the country, working in the field of adult education. This year in the period from 02nd to 04th of April 2015, the Lifelong Learning Centre organized the third cycle of the training series, which encompassed the third module in which the emphasis was placed on communication in adult education, or the types of communication, active and idle listening, so called "Killers of communication", assertive, non-verbal communication etc. The third module also covered topics as group dynamics and resistance. Besides the theoretical part, the training was interactive, with many practical exercises. All participants showed great interest and were actively following the training. The 18 participants are remaining 3 more trainings on module 4, 5, and one optional module, and with completion of those modules they will gain the andragogical qualification foreseen in this pilot project. Lifelong Learning Center will continue in the coming years with the training of new students in the field of adult education.
